Letter Bee REVERSE - Episode 09

Lag seeing looking cool

Impressions & Summary:

We now find ourselves in the conclusion of the Niche’s origins arc. Both sadness and happiness came out from this episode along with some heart warming moments filled with tears. Before we go to that, the people of Blue Notes Blue, or the mayor at least knew all about this from the generations down their ancestry. However we quickly see him being corrupted and paying for it as we will find out the rumour of longevity is a lie, and that the mayor probably died drowning from trying to obtain the fake water. In any case, the battle with Niche and her sister escalates even more. Niche’s sister clearly has some practice of refining of her powers when she can make such elegant shapes with her hair. I guess her growth had more advantages than expected. When things don’t look too good for Niche though, Lag however comes in at the appropriate time, and starts shooting at Niche’s sister filling her up with his memories. She starts seeing all the memories of Lag meeting Niche, but it does not change her objective. She looks at Lag with his red amber glowing. Lag was crying a lot in this episode, but instead of it being silly, he makes it cool while shooting his shindan (picture above). This reflects how Lag has been this entire series. He has been changing into a strong character, and understanding more while feeling the sadness. Lag runs towards Niche to her need. Niche`s sister is overcome with despair and wants them to disappear throwing a giant flail at them from her hair. The flail misses them, and Steak bites Niche with his huge mouth to safely drag her out of combat. Lag, the man he is, tries to confront Niche`s sister once again. She however focuses on trying to hurt Niche with an arrow shaping of her hair, but that is her downfall, because Lag runs up to her, and shoots her point blank range right up her chest!
This time, it works, and her sister suddenly remembers the time where she and Niche parted ways. When the mayor at that time threw them off the cliff, Niche the one in the basket drifted away from her sister. Her sister tried to swim to her, but failed and drowned. When Niche`s sister realized while deep in the water, she was alone, she cried and cried with sadness, and mysteriously, her body grew up into a full grown woman. She eventually found her way to the Maka, and regrets the chance that Niche and her would`ve been together in the care of the Maka. The tale brings Lag into tears, but this time, I feel I would have also cried giving if it was real. Many times in this series have I been mocking Lag for crying all the time, but they do that because of some deep idea inside them that brings them to tears. This however, is more straight forward leaving me, Lag, and Niche`s sister in remorse. The Maka then carries Steak and Niche to the Tir na Lake where the legend of the 1000 year water started. Contrary to belief, the lake only heals wounds at a slow pace. This leaves Niche and Steak waiting a couple of days before they are awake. Meanwhile, the mayor in his greedy stead runs off with the water, but falls into the water dropping it. The townspeople with him probably did not rescue him, and he drowns to death.
I told you there was no water that made you live 1000 years!

Then Lag asks Niche`s sister why the Maka froze the Gaichus. She explains that Gaichus go through metamorphosis once they consumed enough heart. This fact could lead up to something dangerous at the end of this second season. Then as a good bye, she thanks Lag for sending Niche to her for them to be reunited. Lag leaves with the Maka finally talking. He says “Light”, and the Maka and Niche’s sister ponder if Lag is actually a human or not. They can only know as he grows up.

Wait a second...no more Niche? Why couldn’t Lag wait a day or two in town until Niche’s wounds heal back? Why is Lag running away scared anyway? Does he want to leave Niche there? Oh well, once Niche comes back, I expect her to be more mature with the teachings of the Maka. More knowledgeable and accepting her sister. Is not unknowing of what is happening around. Maybe even older perhaps, like the same growth her sister is in? However I do like to mention that the arc itself was one of the best yet. There were many sad moments, and it did not help either that Niche had to leave for a period of time now. Even Steak is no longer here, so maybe that gives Lag and Sylvette more opportunities together. Whatever the case, the only thing I can suggest is that Sylvette made the little red riding hood costume he is wearing at the preview. In addition, Roda or the girl named Roda seems to be with him, so next episode could be interesting.
It's a trap! No wait, it's lunch time!
